The El Mocambo awaits it’s fate

The legendary El Mocambo sign hangs over Spadina Avenue on an overcast day. The 65 year old music venue is set to close it’s doors in November after being sold by the current owner. The El Mocambo has hosted concerts by The Rolling Stones, U2 and Elvis Costello just to name a few.

Update: In a last minute Hail Mary the El Mocambo was saved from it’s fate by Michael Wekerle of Dragon’s Den fame. Wekerle plans to renovate and maintain the notorious club as a live music venue.
