Rally to end Breed Specific Legislation in Ontario

A rally held today at Queen’s Park showed support for the tri-party Bill 16 tabled by MPPs Rick Hillier (PC), Cheri DiNovo (NDP) and Kim Craitor (Lib). The Bill known as ‘Hershey’s Bill‘ would help overturn Breed Specific Legislation or ‘Pit Bull Ban’ that was implemented into the Dog Owners Liability Act on August 29th, 2005 by the ruling majority Liberal Party. Overturning the BSL would once again make it legal for “pit bull” terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers and dogs of a similar physical appearance, to exist within the province of Ontario.
Several hundred supporters showed up with their dogs and signs, wearing yellow scarves to show solidarity with the Bill being read today at 2pm. As of the time of this posting the Bill had passed it’s 2nd reading.
